Playaway Annonuces New Acts

Now dreaded January is out of the way, it’s time to think to warmer times and the joys that come with them: music festivals. Playaway is a new entry for 2010, promising to instil some old skool sea side antics into the musical mayhem that comes with the season of rocking out to bands and dancing your way through the night to DJs you’ve never heard of before.

Playaway is the latest addition to festivals where you get to stay in your very own chalet with friends. From Friday, April 16th to Sunday, April 18th Butlins Skegness will open its doors to revellers who will be able to relax in comfort between party sessions. Calvin Harris, Scouting for Girls, Noisettes, Chase & Status DJs and Sub Focus have been confirmed, and now even more acts have been announced for the festival season opener.

/photos/features/zb1265239286.jpgFirst up is the hotly-tipped pop songstress Daisy Dares You. The 16-year-old has been dubbed the British Avril Lavigne so expect bubble gum pink pop with plenty of attitude. Joining her will be the half Persian/half Jamaican pop-soul songbird and new Rough Trade signing Rox. Likened to Adele, Duffy and Amy, this girl is tipped to be huge in 2010. Darwin Deez from the USA will bring his off-kilter breezy indie-pop to Butlins while London rapper Example will be testing his “Dysfunctional Electro-Pop” with the Playaway crowd. East London’s potty-mouthed lyrical genius Plan B, British singer/songwriter Alan Pownall, Dublin rockers General Fiasco and tongue-in-cheek synth pop lads Ou Est Le Swimming Poolround up the new act just announced.

Playaway aims to take you back to the balmy days of British holiday capers.

Playaway, the brainchild of mega-promoters Live Nation, aims to take you back to the balmy days of British holiday capers with a chic contemporary twist and lead you on a merry jaunt around the hippest bands and entertainment this side of the poop deck. It will play host to extras including the Sounds Familiar Music Quiz, Underground Rebel Bingo Club, Swap-a-rama Razzmatazz, Go-karting, bowling and even an old skool Quasar. Guests will also be able to take time out form the music at an on-site cinema complete with themed days including Sing-along-Sound of Music and a John Hughes blockbusting bonanza of a Sunday.

/photos/features/zb1265239216.jpgLate night party goers will be able to indulge in quirky club nights such as the ‘sad music that will make you happy’ of Feeling Gloomy. If you find yourself feeling alone, Down with Dating will give you the chance to try your hand at some word famous ‘speed hating’ or you can bring the silliness back and don your most outlandish outfit at London’s favourite pop fancy dress party Club De Fromage where it’s a case of the more cheese, the better. Playaway is placing the emphasis on fun without the worry of rain or the uncomfortable exposure to the elements that is camping — this April it’s time to start your festival season early.
