Sónar by Day will undergo a redesign including a reconfigured main stage - SonarVillage by Estrella Damm - offering an improved experience for the audience. Headliners there will be Black Coffee (Thursday 15th), The Blessed Madonna (Friday 16th), and another artist to be announced shortly for the Saturday.

As part of Sónar by Day, the 11th edition of Sónar+D, the festival’s international meeting for digital culture and creative technologies, will focus on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on music and the audiovisual and interactive arts. This year’s programme features a wide range of activities - for both professionals and the general public - and takes over the whole of the Palau de Congressos de Fira Montjuïc from 10am to 9pm each day, as well extending into the rest of Sónar by Day.

The audience will be able to see, hear, feel and discuss how AI is being applied to both musical and audiovisual production, as well as explore the potential threats of the widening use of these technologies and how we can protect intellectual property in this new reality.

The 130+ activities at Sónar+D 2023 also showcase the rich array of talent and the diverse range of communities active in Barcelona. A new exhibition space, Project Area, will feature more 80 groundbreaking and innovative projects and prototypes; the first European festival for AI-created cinema, organised by the UPF with support from Sónar+D; plus two forums and two symposiums covering innovation in the music industry, the intersection between art, science, and technology, and AI and its role under the new web3 paradigm.

At Sónar by Night watch out for SonarCar by TOUS’ circular stage. It will feature emerging artists from Spain. Queer icon Samantha Hudson and provocative reggaeton star La Zowi will premiere new shows, alongside a variety of up-and-coming names from the Spanish club scene: Mareo: Chico Blanco b2b 8kitoo, Oro Jondo, Orslok, Parkineos, and Rusowsky.

Under the banner of SonarExtra, SonarMies returns to the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion with ‘Reprocessing… Piano+AI’, where artists from the Sónar lineup will interact with an AI using the piano. Sónar+D is also collaborating with Digital Impact, the first exhibition of entirely digital art in Barcelona, which can be visited throughout the festival at Disseny Hub Barcelona.
