Somerset House Studios announces four-day programme celebrating experimental sound, music and performance
Somerset House Studios’ experimental sound, music, and performance series Assembly returns from Wednesday, March 20th to Saturday, March 23rd.
The programme features brand-new partnerships with the Roberts Institute of Art, and a number of works will travel internationally to festivals including Rewire in the Hague and Edinburgh Art Festival.
Assembly headliner Chuquimamani-Condori will play their first solo London show in six years while Prem Sahib will premiere a polyphonic performance piece called Alleus.
Bríghde Chaimbeul will be joined by Maëva Berthelot and Temitope Ajose for a new commission Where the Veil Is Thin.
Further performances will come from Mark Leckey, Elaine Mitchener, Vivienne Griffin, exlRuth, Zein Majali, Dis Fig, Shamica Ruddock, Shenece Oretha, Nkisi, and Lord Tusk.
It was also revealed there will be a new Podcast series featuring Assembly artists called Not Strictly Speaking, and more talks and lectures will be announced in February.
Featuring a series of brand-new commissions, collaborations, and live premieres, many of which have been developed in residence at the Studios, Assembly puts sound in dialogue with other artistic disciplines and experiments with form.
