A historic east London riverside site will be reimagined as a large-scale warehouse venue from October.
Ironworks will launch in Thames Wharf London as the brainchild of LWE in partnership with placemaking organisation PROJEKT.
Set across a 7,000 capacity warehouse space and an open-air terrace overlooking the Thames, Ironworks is expected to have cutting-edge sound, lighting and visual production designed to incorporate the building’s history.
As part of this, Museum of Youth Culture will present a visual installation exploring the history of warehouse culture in London, bringing the stories and spirit of the scene into the fabric of the space itself.
The site was formerly home to the Thames Ironworks and shipbuilding yards.
For limited weekends in October only, a piece of London’s industrial history will be reactivated for the present, bringing thousands of people together.
