Nearly 30 events, more than 100 short films, six features, an exhibition, poetry, a drawing social, talks, panels, industry events, a craft fair, and a late-night party are just some of what's on offer at the Scottish Queer International Film Festival 2026.
The showcase of LGBTQIA+ filmmakers and stories from Scotland and across the world returns to Glasgow Film Theatre from Monday, October 19th to Satruday, October 24th.
The festival’s diverse programme will present: explorations into the uncanny; tactile experimental filmmaking; illuminating documentaries; erotica, horror, and fairytales; intimate love stories; and apocalyptic odysseys.
The festival’s flagship programme, Scottish Shorts, presents a diverse range of queer talent from Scotland, with the Best Scottish Short Award chosen by a jury of queer icons such as Tyra More, star of I Kissed a Girl Season 2, and BAFTA-winner Chez Oteka.

Five feature films will have their Scottish premiere at SQIFF 2026: I Am Going to Miss You (dir. Daniel Ribeiro), A Frown Gone Mad (dir. Omar Mismar), Adam’s Apple (dir. Amy K. Jenkins), Yapping Out Loud: Contagious Thoughts from an Unrepentant Whore (dir. Mark Karbusicky, Mirha-Soleil Ross), and Hunky Jesus (dir. Jennifer Kroot).
SQIFF Over The Years will be open at the Art School throughout the week sifting through the archives from every festival edition since its inception as a small volunteer-led event to its current identity as a festival and charity with year-round programming and support for queer filmmakers in Scotland.
Invited guest curators include Amazonia EcoQueer, JALI Collective, Mostra Queer Brasil, Queer East, Sapphic Cinema Club, Scottish Documentary Institute, Take One Action Film Festivals, and TGirlsOnFilm.
